I notice several problems with 'pear install package-archive.tgz'
When a package does not have a specified 'baseinstalldir', the files are installed in
pear/ and not in pear/PACKAGE_PATH. So a badly formatted package.xml will give a incorrect package
install.
My question is : does a package may have missing 'baseinstalldir' information ?
[extract from a package.xml file]
<filelist>
<dir>/</dir>
<file>Crypt_Rc4.php</file>
<file>Crypt_NumberID.php</file>
</filelist>
or should it always have one (even if the value is null) :
<filelist>
<dir name="/" baseinstalldir="">
<file>Crypt_Rc4.php</file>
<file>Crypt_NumberID.php</file>
</dir>
</filelist>
In the second case we may do a check in Install.php (somewhere near line 127) in order to refuse a
file install when the install dir is missing.
However I also saw files with :
<FileList>
<File>HTML/IT.php</File>
<File>HTML/ITX.php</File>
<File>HTML/IT_Error.php</File>
</FileList>
So is there a strick rule ? ... (i'm not very strong in reading .dtd files)
BTW there is also a problem with extracting the archive while under Window, due to a bug in
Archive_Tar. I will commit a correction in the coming days.
