Hello,
I'm writing this, as I'm a bit miffed by the call for votes on Math_Derivative by Etienne with no response to the comment I made about it referencing to Math_Function draft. AFAICS my package does everything that Math_Derivative does, but is a lot more orthogonal and is usable not only for derivatives but as a generic datastructure for algebraic functions onto which more sophisticated functionality can be built.
I'm probably still going to finish and propose the Math_Function package but it seems that its chances for approval are less if theres already a package implementing similar functionality, even if the architecture is not as reusable. Even if it is approved, we would have another package in PEAR which has a feature set subset of another packages making it somewhat useless and junk.
So I would please like some feedback. Is my approach bad or is my package only considered when properly finished and proposed or does anybody even care?
