Hard to say unless you can provide more information.
However, I suspect that you might find it far more practical to get a
list of packages using REST and PEAR_REST.
retrieve:
http://pear.php.net/rest/c/categories.xml
and then foreach($categories['c'] as $category) {
retrieve
http://pear.php.net/rest/c/{$category['_content']}/packagesinfo.xml
}
This will give you more than enough info to do what you need.
Incidentally, XML-RPC will be gradually phased out over time, as it
creates far more server load than is necessary. No time soon, of course :)
