Btw, please better talk on the general or dev-list, not only us are interested in this parser... and more generally Text_Wiki. Sorry if that's against the "etiquette", but I forward my answer there.
I'd like to react to your call to give feedback about compatibility of Text_Wiki_Mediawiki (TWM) with the MediaWiki (MW) format. Be aware we won't "clone" the whole Mediawiki, the goal is more to furnish some "light" compatibility. Lot of things there are intimely connected to the inners of the CMS.
First, I'd like to report a few inconsistencies that I noticed at first glance: 1. __NOTOC__ directive: it just gets underlined in TWM. 2. Newlines (not new paragraphs) are ignored in MW (more LaTeX-like behavior), whereas they work in TWM 3. Lists: level 1 items (*) work in TWM, but not deeper levels (2 or more); # are ordered lists in MW, whereas in TWM # is ignored 4. The <del> tag normally strikes through text in MW, whereas in TWM it is ignored 5. Table directives (width, style, etc.) are ignored by TWM 6. HTML comment (<!-- ... -->) works as comment in MW, whereas in TWM it is ignored 7. <pre> tags work in MW, but in TWM they are ignored The way to go is to report each of this points in a separate entry in bug tracker, as bug or request for extend at your choice.
You need to furnish some simple test case, for example something directly runable in the common doc/Test_Text_Wiki.php (if you write in some test.txt in the same folder "Mediawiki", it will auto-comute to this parser using the load example button). Best would be to run the same example in some Mediawiki sandbox or even use some / register it in http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Parser_testing Look also http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/wikipedia/phase3/maintenance/parserTests.txt , our tests should be based on that. We will then answer and discuss it there, in this nice public bug tracker.
Second, I would really like to see the package move into a somewhat more mature state than what I saw in the CVS HEAD of it. So if you need any help with developing the package, I'd be glad to finish todo-items that you'd like to delegate whenever I can spare some time. I cannot "delegate" anything as the stuff does not belong to me :)
Just furnish some patches in the corresponding entry in bug tracker. If that's short a simple diff -u directly in is enough. For longer diff -u or brand new classes, better put there some link to somewhere by you. That would be much appreciated.
For example, I noticed that the package defines that it can parse list, but there is no implementation of List.php. Yes, this one uses the Default one whose syntax is slightly different from Mediawiki's one, the List rule is a blocker for next release.
As Specialchars too, but I guess we miss more fundaments.
Sincerely, Eugen Schindler student Computer Science and Engineering, Eindhoven University of Technology I just hope you will bother us so much with patches that we can only put you dev there :)
