hmh. I don't like either of them. I'd rather implement this somehow
like this: http://php.is/drafts/WebFeeds/WebFeed.phps
(note: not a full working classes, just basic idea how I see feed
writer implemented I put down before I broke my hand).
As you can see (from the 2nd entry example) you can choice your
favorite programming style while adding data to it which I think is
important.
Trying to unify the generation of RSS and Atom documents is just
wrong. RSS and Atom feeds aren't compatible. You should choice the
format after your needs (Atom ;).
Anyway, the base can easily be extended for RSS rule set and it
shouldn't be that difficult to register 3rd party namespaces into it.
In fact, extending it as a feed reader ain't that difficult either.
