It said:Failed to download pear/Spreadsheet_Excel_Writer within preferred state "stable" , latest release is version 0.9.0, stability "beta"Hint! It's beta and you have preferred_state set to stable!, use "channel://pear.php.net /Spreadsheet_Excel_Writer-0.9.0" to installAnd it says right here what to do to force it to install. Sorry, justin, I hooked on the "force" verb,
In no case ! --force is evil # pear download pear/Spreadsheet_Excel_Writer-beta or # pear -d preferred_state=beta download pear/Spreadsheet_Excel_Writer ... same with any command as "upgrade"a name package-alpha or package-version acts only for this package option -d preferred_state=alpha is valid within the current pear command, not changing conf. a --force forces anything , that is evil best command is still # pear help # pear help install ...
