Hi, I just noticed on the pgsql hackers list that they are preparing themselves for another summer code round. To quote Josh we need to get the following things lined up quickly: a) Projects which could be accomplished in a summer, and b) Students to do them. So I think we should discuss possible projects here and then do a concerted "blog attack" to find students. The first thing that comes to mind is getting the bug count down, especially for popular but tricky packages like our Excel writer.
So the idea is to do a PEAR summer code ? Random questions that popped up: What incentive could there be ? Student would have a mentor I assume, could a project like this be used for school/university ? We could always check the packages and update those are not maintained (I do that once in a while but I missed some). A good project would be the revamp of Services-Ebay to fit ebay's new api.
