Ummm...how would adding tbody help for "zebra style" tables. I don't see how it's any different than a normal table in this regard. You still have to give alternating styles/classes to each row, don't you? I understand that the "first" row could be in the actual tbody in this case andnot the thead, but that's not much of a change.
You are independent from the number of header rows (for "zebra style" table that also holds when using styles or classes, of course). In DataGrid an extended HTMLTable driver could add more header rows than the HTMLTable renderer -- using thead and tbody here avoids overwritten header cells (just a quick example, there might be better ones). (Of course, getRowCount() would be another possibility in this example.) Using something like <table border="1" rules="groups"> is another example; the output could look like this: http://de.selfhtml.org/html/tabellen/anzeige/table_rules.htm (german content, but only the layout is important) Another interesting aspect is this one: "When long tables are printed, the table head and foot information may be repeated on each page that contains table data." (taken from http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/struct/tables.html#h-11.2.3) Regards, Mark
