If this is true, it is not documented in the manual. Perhaps a nudge of
the php-doc team would fix that, but yes, this would solve the problem
completely in my book and be preferrable.
However, it would only be preferrable if the "fix" is the ability to
pass the actual object. If it just calls __toString() then it is every
bit as useless as trigger_error() in php 4.
