Hi,
In the past I've been told that large class trees (X extends Y extends Z etc...) eat memory up in PHP4. And I always tried to avoid big trees. But what do you PEAR developers think ?
- is this true ? If yes, how many "generations" do you advise not to go over ?
- does PHP5 use less memory than PHP4 with large class trees ?
- in order to reduce memory usage, should I try unsetting the variables that hold objects that are not used anymore ? In PHP4 ? In PHP5 ?
- how to actually measure PHP scripts memory usage ?
Thanks
