Hi all, As of the commit that just cleared, pearweb is completely PEAR installable. As such, the new instructions for setting up PEAR are: 1) install PHP 4.3 or newer in Apache 1.3 or Apache 2.0 as an apache module, make sure you have mysqli or mysql extension, gettext extension, pcre, xml, and zlib enabled. 2) install MySQL 4.0, 4.1, or 5.0, create a user named pear, password pear, with full access. 3) pear channel-discover pearified.com 4) pear up pearified/Role_Web 5) pear run-scripts pearified/Role_Web When it asks, choose the location you want to install pearweb as web_dir 6) cvs -d :pserver:anoncvs@cvs.php.net:/repository login <enter email address> 7) cvs -d :pserver:anoncvs@cvs.php.net:/repository co pearweb 8) cd pearweb 9) pear up package.xml 10) pear run-scripts pearweb 11) if you don't install into the exact paths listed in docs/apach_setup.txt you'll need to define a few environment variables. In unix this is easy (add to .bash_profile, for instance), but in windows, you'll need to do this click path: click "start" right-click on "My Computer", click properties in dropdown menu. Click "Advanced tab" and the button that says "Environment Variables" PEAR_TARBALL_DIR - set to a permanent directory for storing tarballs PEAR_TMPDIR - set to a directory for storing temporary files You may need to create the database before running the post-install script for pearweb. After successfully running the script, you'll need to insert some data, particularly in the users. Create a user, add pear.admin to the karma table, and you should be good to go using the web interface as an admin, just like at pear.php.net. Those of us who already have a working apache/mysql setup need not run the post-install script to upgrade the code (which will be good for pear.php.net). Before we go live with this, I would like those of you who volunteered to help become our first guinea pigs. Try out these steps, see how they go for you, and let's see if we can make it any easier. I *highly* recommend that you use the cvs of pear-core (PEAR version 1.5.0a2) as the post-install script will be a lot clearer to follow. It works just fine with earlier versions, but involved quite a bit more typing. Thanks, Greg
