Hello everbody, Yesterday silvano (silvano) pointed me to the following poll: http://www.phpbrasil.com/poll.php?cat=results&pol_id=6 That would become in English: Question: do you use PEAR components in you PHP applications?
yes - 342 ( 12 % )
no - 675 ( 24 % )
what is PEAR? - 1836 ( 64 % ) PHPbrasil is a wide known site by the brazilian PHP community (it is even mentioned in the php.net links). IMO that site is mostly accessed by newcomers though, as it is a repository of pre-made PHP scripts and tutorials. I haven't found any PHP usage statistics that demonstrates brazilian position relative to the rest of the world (the closer I could find was nexen.net "PHP adoption by country") but I am pretty sure we are a great PHP market. So it is sad that (at least apparently) PEAR is still unknown around this lands. I am motivated to switch the MDB2 talk in the next PHP Conference Brasil for a PEAR evangelization instead. Something like what is PEAR, what are the benefits of using it and how to start using it. I am encouraging you that wants to come to a wonderful country to help spread the PEAR in the next PHP Conference that would happen on Nov 30 & Dec 1st. The keynote speaker will probably be Lukas Smith (lsmith) that was already contacted and demonstrated interest. We are just waiting for the confirmation of the event's organization (it is so soon yet to take such decisions). Cheers, iGor.
