Stig,
After some reflexion time, things will not be simple : parse_ini_file() is a
good idea (and already exists), but there is no alter_ini_file() or
something like that. It is easy to creates a write_ini_file() if we accept
to loose the commentaries.
Doing a alter_ini_file() which replace the ini values while keeping the
commentaries would be the best. Thinks like that may exist somewhere.
So maybe we can start with parse_ini_file() (already written) and creates a
alter_ini_file(), which, at the beginning, will overide the commentaries.
Then we will be able to improve the code in order to keep the commentaries.
I think about a IniFile Class in PEAR/
If we do the choice for the pear.ini and pearsys.ini to be in the 'ini'
format, why not doing the same format choice for the .registry files
(Archive_Tar.reg, ...) ? It will be easier to troubleshoot and correct a
badly formatted registry.
And a question : Why is there a pearsys.ini and a pear.ini ? I don't see the
point. (there is no phpsys.ini and php.ini)
I may (will) help on this (if needed),
Vincent
