The PEAR policy seems to be that new packages should be written in PHP5. But what about old
packages which are already written in PHP4 - can and should they be 'upgraded' to PHP5, or
do they need to be backwards-compatible? (if this is in the manual somewhere I am sorry - I have
tried to find it but couldn't).
Because you can get some non-forwards-compatible bugs when you use PHP4 code in PHP5 when you are
copying objects and you are expecting a 'deep copy'
