It works for me on several packages:
cweiske:~> pear install net_wifi
downloading Net_Wifi-1.0.0.tar ...

install ok: channel://pear.php.net/Net_Wifi-1.0.0
cweiske:~> pear run-tests -pu Net_wifi
Running 1 tests
