Hi Michel,
+ getoptplus() accepts option name shortcuts such as "--f" or "--for" for "--format". This is similar to other command line parsers and it is nice to have.Console_CommandLine also supports this (it was commited today but was planned) as well as others gnu getopt features (man getopt): * the '--' special option that stops options parsing and consider further tokens as arguments, * long options can be separated from the argument by '=' or by a space, * a '-' alone is considered as an argument, * can be posix compliant if specified (POSIX demands the following behavior: the first non-option stops option processing), if not options and arguments can be given in no particular order; Does your package supports all of this ? If not I think it should be added.
+ GetoptPlus will soon implement a Web interface to run command line through a browser.hmm, can you explain more what is this ?
- GetoptPlus does not handle sub commands nor option value types (or actions). Yes, this is what motivated me to write Console_CommandLine in the first place (and imho the more interesting feature).
As a side note, the package has been on sourceforge for 7 months or so. It took me that long to propose it to the Pear community: my bad... GetoptPlus is fully tested and production ready. I am already using it as a built-inConsole_CommandLine is also pretty stable and covered by tests (even if it is in beta state because the doc is not in peardoc format).
class in other packages. I really would like to use it as a separate package, hoping it will be accepted. I believe there is room for both packages as they meet different needs.Of course, I also think there's room for the two :) As the author of Console_CommandLine, just wanted to add these precisions. Cheers, David.
