Images and Color

Question: Does anyone have any information regarding either a PHP class or some document discussing GIF/JPEG/PNG file formats and generally, how to read them. I would like to get this stuff in for the Color Class, which I want to release sometime next week. I will be home all weekend in front of the computer (launching a new website, and got to be around to catch any bugs). I want to add support in to be able to read color data in from a file, write to a file, etc. Essentially, handle this on the level of reading information from a graphics file. This will also be used later on once I get around to working with creating a SVG class(es). Any ideas, thoughts, suggestions? Jason Lotito Programmer & Developer Clockmedia Inc.
