Just a short comment; Haven't read the email in detail or the links you provided but the idea sounds interesting ... as long as we don't make it a standard, seems like too much extra in the already space consuming doc tags :)Sure, the goal of doctests are clearly unit testing, so test blocs should be kept small, additionnally, doctests are also useful as examples blocs so there's no need for <code></code> blocs in doc strings in most cases.
