I don't think so... I care about the concept of it, but I can see some
potential problems with arbitrary bundles of packages.

I do exactly this... create a meta package with dependencies on all
the packages required, not specifying any version... but a <contents>
section is required in package.xml so I just include a README file
with some info about what this meta-package is.
pear install channel/meta_package
But, this got me thinking, can't you do something like:
pear download-all -c mychannel && pear install *.tgz
The command fits in one line, and you don't have to make a separate
bundle... How are you making the bundles right now...? pear bundle (I
have no clue what that is) ?
I do think there would have to be some clear separation between what a
bundle is and a package... as Greg alluded to, where's the separation
between a package and a bundle. If you want to install X packages and
define specific dependencies -- then it is a package. It's this
arbitrary relationship in a bundle which makes it somewhat unclear how
to handle.
Alternatively, could you just create a zip, then tell them to extract
it and run pear install *.tgz?
I could see some benefit to this concept for machines without net
access, but then again, I'm ignorant to all the problems this could
cause. Something like:
pear bundle-packages p1 p2 p3 p4
Then an offline machine could do ungzip untar and pear install all the
package.tgz files... letting the installer deps as it sees fit. But,
what if a package within this meta-package requires a dependency
included in the meta-package... what order do they need to be
installed in. Would it only work for packages with no
interdependencies or order of installation? I don't know... gotta
run...
But if it were me, I'd just make a meta parent package with deps on
all the packages you want them to install.
