Hey Mika,
I was browsing through http://pear.php.net/package/Image_Remote
while looking at http://pear.php.net/bugs/bug.php?id=6356
Bug 6356 breaks it on PHP5 completely :(
Also, I noticed:

Is it worth deprecating the existing package in favour of
getimagesize() (in a similar fashion to what has been done with DB =>
MDB2)?
Or otherwise discouraging future use of it?
