Hi guys,
So I've changed the google calendar so that we have a two day triage
every 3 weeks as a new experiment to see how things will go.
Now what I want to do is try something different, as we talked about
in previous emails, we need a direction, a target and the target I've
chosen is SOAP.
Now people might ask, why SOAP - Well it's the second highest bug
package we have, it´s easy to work on and easy to write tests for and
well Jan S is still around to assist :)
Hopefully he'll want to show up for one of the bug days to be with in
reach to help people.
I've been spending some of my time on SOAP lately and on previous bug
triages, what I've done so far is to convert the old "tests" into
proper phpt and also Jan and I have been writing tests for bugs we've
solved and also tests for bugs yet to be solved.
We have two focuses now 1) write tests for bugs 2) write general tests
(see parser.phpt for example) 3) fix code and well if someone is
really bored, write docs and examples :)
Do note this is a PHP 4 package and is mainly meant to work on PHP 4
so no funny business, we have the SOAP ext for PHP 5 :-P
Also if you write tests do look at some of the old ones, we had to do
some fun fun fun regex and expectf to deal with different var_dump
outputs between php 4 and 5 ;-)
Anyway let me know guys if this is feasible, since I'm sure people
don't want to tackle the excel writer just yet! :-) (hard to write
tests for and multiple apps we need to test on *sigh*)
P.S.
A second idea for those that don't want to tackle SOAP, look at all
report with lower bug idea than 10.000 - those are our OLLLLD ones,
everything above 10.000 is since Feb 2007 and we only have below 140
pieces of those old buggers :-)
Regards
Helgi
