Hello Damiano,
Than you. I'm glad you find Net_Ping useful.
I'm only the current package lead, and am not one of the original
authors. I have contributed a significant amount of code to the package
-- perhaps half of the current code is mine and was built upon the
ideas already implemented in the package. The original package authors
selected the "PHP license", and my understanding when I began
contributing to the package was that it had to remain under the same
license.
The package lists the following authors:
// | Authors: Martin Jansen <mj@php.net>
// | Tomas V.V.Cox <cox@idecnet.com>
// | Jan Lehnardt <jan@php.net>
// | Kai Schroeder <k.schroeder@php.net>
// | Craig Constantine <cconstantine@php.net>
If you can obtain a concensus from the other authors, I would agree to
a change to the BSD license.

Hi Craig
I'm Damiano Venturin.
First I want to thank you for your precious work.
I'm using your Net/Ping package in this really new and small project
called SMAK http://www.squadrainformatica.com/smak/
I go to the point: I would like to release SMAK under the GPL licence
but I'm having many troubles with free non compatible classes used to
build smak (6 on 16). One of these classes is Net/Ping: it's licensed
under the PHP license. So I'm asking to you if is there the possibility
to move the license from PHP to New BSD one, or to have a double
licensing.
Of course I do not pretend anything, I'm just asking to understand
which roads I can run to reach my target.
Thank you again
Damiano Venturin
