Hello all! The PEAR Group and, I, your fearless PEAR President, wanted to
publicly recognize that the namespace question has been finally answered
thanks to the hard work of Greg Beaver and the rest of the PHP internals
group.
Now that Namespaces have been settled and will be in PHP 5.3 with a solid
implementation, it's time to look towards the future. As you all know, PEAR2
is germinating. Helgi and Greg have been hard at work on Pyrus. Travis has
been working on an RFC that outlines how Namespaces will be used in PEAR2.
Subversion, Continuous Integration, the list goes on.
What we're announcing today is that PEAR2 will be making full use of
Namespaces. The PEAR Group will be polishing off Travis's proposal and
presenting it to the community soon. From there it's full steam ahead on
PEAR2!
P.S. Internals, I have included you in this email because we wanted to say
thanks for all efforts put into namespaces over the past few years and the
results are fantastic :)
