Hello everyone,
I hope you are all doing well! After yesterday's announcement of our
participation in the GSoC 2009 with the PHP project, we decided to
take a dramatic turn and try and be a project on our own with Google
this year.
We have been refused a few times in the past and this year we are
putting a strong and solid proposal in order to be accepted. The only
thing that is lacking right now is the amount of ideas. So we went
ahead and created: http://wiki.php.net/pear/gsoc/ and
the page
http://wiki.php.net/pear/gsoc/2009 .
If you have any ideas add them to those pages and NOT the PHP project
GSoC pages (http://wiki.php.net/gsoc/2009).
We are hoping to be allowed more slots and thus getting more work done
on PEAR by moving it to it's own project. We have been self-sufficient
for many years now and I'm sure that with smart ideas we could be
accepted.
So I'll say it again, if you have ideas, go and add them to the wiki
or submit them on the mailing list otherwise we will remain a
"subproject" of the PHP project and gain less slots and students to
work on PEAR/PEAR2.
Thanks all and looking forward in seeing your ideas on the pages,

Slan,
David
