Christian,
Brandon and I started talking about this back before the Group started
really digging into the RFCs that affect the PEAR2 Standards. Also, one
thing in my mind was that, knowing Brandon, a favorable PHP5 Log2 package
would be ready fairly quickly, and I was partially counting on such a fresh
PHP5 package as being a good early candidate for a transition to PEAR2 once
the standards were settled. I'd planned to provide support for that work,
so that I could get a real "on the job" working sense of what is required to
move a PHP5 PEAR1 package to the PEAR2 standards.
Lastly, with Brandon being a new PEAR dev, I didn't want him to feel any
immediate pain by trying to write to the standards while parts are in flux.
