Hello all,
I am writing to you all to register my interest in maintaining the
HTML_Template_IT package.
With over three years since the last stable release, the development
on HTML_Template_IT has been quite slow. However I am of the opinion
there are numerous improvements both in speed and features that could
be implemented in order to regain some market use. I feel
HTML_Template_IT (with a few improvements) could become an excellent
bare-bones templating engine.
As you all can see, I've posted a bug and a patch fixing said bug for
the package in question. With nobody maintaining the package I fear my
patch (and any future patches I make) will take quite a while to be
merged. It is my proposal that I assume the role of maintaining
HTML_Template_IT to ensure it's ongoing development.
A bit about myself: I am a final year Bachelor of Engineering &
Bachelor of Computer Science student, from Melbourne Australia. My
primary language is C++, though I consider myself very skilled in
writing PHP, C, JS and Java. I've dabbled in PHP for the past 6 years,
but in the last year I've coded in it quite extensively. If my
application is successful, this would be my first big collaborative
"project" however I understand the importance of consistency in code
and other ideals with regards to large software projects.
If anyone has any queries, I am more than happy to answer, and I look
forward to hearing from you all.
Thank you,
Gregory Currie (gregorycu)
