Hi, Those are all required to generate information for the channel servers. Look at any package managers out there and you will see very similar information in their package format. For help with maintaining package.xml files I would advice you to use http://pear.php.net/package/pear_packagefilemanager2 as it allows you to have a 20 lines PHP script to maintain and update the files. However ... Pyrus will make things all that much easier to do :) Links to said explanations on how Pyrus does things elude me at the moment but it does things in a fantastically easy way. - Helgi On 11 Mar 2010, at 02:19, Evert | Filemobile wrote: > Just to chime in here, > > As a non-pear developer but big fan of the pear installer, it is way too strict and requires > too much elements. > I can't really care about notes, summary, description and lead if none of the users > generally see it. > > Also the contents of the <contents> tag are hard to generate, it would be great if these > simply support full paths instead of <file>'s in <dirs>. > > The significance of the order of tags, also feels a bit un-xml to me (even though order is > significant in xml, it is unusual IMHO). > > Just for your future consideration.. otherwise, thanks for creating a good php industry > standard for installing packages (because that's what it definitely is!) > > Evert > > On 2010-03-11, at 7:05 AM, Christian Weiske wrote: > >> Hi all, >> >> >>>> $ cat invalid-xmls |grep "fails to"|grep package2|wc -l >>>> 58 >>> >>> Wasn't there a discussion about figuring out a way to make this more >>> laxed?
