The issue is pretty weird, so I decided to post it on the list first.
$ php -v

For fun I added die('foo') as the very first line in pyrus.phar, but it has the same
output.
Although I'm happy to move to 5.3.2, the website mentions 5.3.1 *should* be supported.
Are there known problems with the PHP Apple ships?
