PEAR in August

I've just pushed this out to http://blog.pear.php.net/ What’s the pear project been up to recently? We’ve been fairly quiet, launching pear2 and pyrus <http://pear2.php.net/> into the line up, welcoming new faces to the QA team, Jesús Espino<http://pear.php.net/user/jespino>, and getting ready to call an election for the new pear group<http://pear.php.net/group/> . In addition to that, we’ve seen releases of Net_DNS<http://pear.php.net/package/Net_DNS>, Net_IPv4 <http://pear.php.net/package/Net_IPv4>, Services_Twitter<http://pear.php.net/package/Services_Twitter>, and File_MARC <http://pear.php.net/package/File_MARC> to name a few. We’ve seen a fair few of the more active members of the community go into hibernation <http://www.ohloh.net/p/pear/contributors?page=1> as life gets busier, so if you’ve ever wanted to help out with PEAR; now is a great time! Not sure how to help? There’s plenty of ways; from stomping out deprecated code <http://test.pear.php.net/unit-test-results/deprecated.txt>, writing unit tests <http://test.pear.php.net/unit-test-results/> for bug reports<http://pear.php.net/bugs/search.php?search_for=&boolean=0&limit=30&order_by=id&direction=DESC&cmd=display&status=Open&bug_type=All&php_os=&packagever=&phpver=&assign=&maintain=&author_email=&bug_age=0&bug_updated=0>/ packages, proposing a package <http://pear.php.net/pepr/>, urging your favorite project to host a pear channel, becoming a member of the QA team <http://pear.php.net/qa/>or even part of the PEAR group <http://pear.php.net/group/> itself. If you've got something I missed that really should be on there, let us know. Also included is an open invitation for people to come and join us on the list; to help out in any way they like. Please be welcoming :) This invitation doesn't just apply to those outside of PEAR - particularly the bits about joining the QA team or the pear group. If you can think of people you'd like to see in either; please speak up!
