Hi, Almost two full years since I've published the last version (1.9.0) of PHP_CompatInfo [1]. I took the lead after Davey Shafik, and have contributed a lot to improve again and again this famous QA tool. When I took the decision to rewrite it PHP4 was still alive ! I've in mind to write my own parser engine based on php tokens and keeping the PHP4 compatibility. Since, PHP4 step down and we are now in a PHP5 period. In the meantimes, Mikhail Krasilnikov became the new leader, but he didn't know that I've already started to write the new version 2.0.0 As I don't wanted to suspend more my work, and improve one time again PHP_CompatInfo, I've decided on November 2011 to rewrite a new major version 2 with PHP5. I took then the decision to use PHP_TokenStream [2] as parser engine, and contributed on some new features. I still wait feedback from Sebastian about an idea to add a hook system in the current master development branch. Even, if I have no more free time as it was in the past 2 months, I wanted TODAY to open the public discussion about PHP_CompatInfo 2. You can find the latest beta (4) available to download on my website [3]. All source codes are readable online, and you can find some examples. There is not yet a full documentation to explain all features in details. So don't ask. I hope that there will be enough users that have time to have a look on it and reply to me, thru this mailing or even directly on my mail address. Actually, PHP_CompatInfo 2.0.0bet4 helped by PHP_TokenStream 1.0.1, and a Wrapper around it to add my current contributions and the hook system, can detect : - extensions - interfaces - classes - functions (user or internal) - constants - includes My wrapper [4] for PHP_TokenStream, even if it's not beautiful (include some part of code to the current version to include my hook system, and some code in comment to avoid errors) allow to use the current stable version 1.0.1 I reused great IDEAs from : - PHP_CodeSniffer to produce reports - PHPUnit to configure options via an external XML file Well, it's probably the most longer mail I wrote on this mailing list, and i hope to not have sleeped somebody. All your comments are welcome !
