Hi everyone,
I would like to announce a closest date to be released the first alpha version 0.1.0 of PEAR2/Net_Growl.
This version is a full rewrites for PHP 5.3.0+
As you certainly already know, I like the Growl system. But why do we limit to only two protocols to send notifications.
My motivation is to build a universal notification system without changing code source, and use either (depending of use cases) :
- GNTP
- UDP
but also
- SMTP
- HTTP/HTTPS
- XMPP
- DBUS
and everything else. Just depending of a new Adapter.
Version 0.1.0 that will be published on my github account [1] will have at least these features :
- listener interface : ability to observe any growl subject events (connect, disconnect from host, notify, register, send and receive raw data)
Will come with a Monolog [2] listener (as example and helper to debug)
- adapters : udp and gntp (to provide at least growl protocols support)
- unified response object (always to use same code implementation)
- ability to change application / notification details, even after registration
Roadmap :
Version 0.2.0
- I've already written a composite adapter : ability to send notifications to multiple target at same time, and filter destination.
- currently working on XMPP, SMTP and HTTP adapters
- and more ... depending of your suggestions
