In 4.2 you can add the --with-cli switch and it will compile the cli version at the same time as any other sapi module

Is there a way to install pear without recompiling? Or can I install php as both CGI and with-apxs? David McInnis -----Original Message----- From: Jesus M. This might need to be clarified in the PEAR manual to avoid this confusion w/ users not aware of the different ways of compiling PHP. --- David McInnis <david@dataovation.com> wrote:When I run lynx -source http://pear.php.net/~cox/go-pear | sh I get the following error. """ This script will install the PEAR Installer command 'pear' and all the files needed by it. The 'pear' command is the tool that can manage PEAR packages downloaded both from the PEAR web (http://pear.php.net) or from the 'pear/' CVS module of cvs.php.net With this script you could also download and install, from CVS, the common PEAR files that comes with any PHP distribution (located at php4/pear in CVS). The common PEAR files means classes like PEARDB,XML_Parser, IT template engine or Mail. Please read the FAQ at http://pear.php.net/faq.php for more information For an explanation on how to use the PEAR Installer or what PEAR packages are, visit: http://cvs.php.net/co.php/pearweb/doc/pear_package_manager.txt which: no php in(/usr/local/sbin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/root/bin) No php cgi binary found in PATH^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^---- This is the important error message that you perhaps missed/overlooked""" Now, here it he confusing part. I have installed php from the source and not a package. PHP is in fact running. However I cannot find the binary by using whereis php or which php.
