ATM MDB's reverse engineering (which is pretty much just taken from the
current Metabase betas) needs an existing MySQL DB to extract the
schema/data.
Manuel is still thinking about how to do it best and I don't have much
time to invest into this either.
The basic idea is to provide an interactive app where I can specify the
source (either a running DB or an SQL source file). The user is then
asked how to resolve any ambiguity and will get some warnings like
TIMESTAMP in MySQL will be converted to DATETIME and will therefore
behave differently.
If anyone would step up and write this I would be most pleased.
