If nobody has an objection, I will import my new code for Net_Whois into the
CVS and replace the existing class and package.xml file.

Subject: [PEAR-DEV] Competitive Class: Net_Whois
I have written a PEAR extended class which queries internet domain name and
network number directory services. The class automatically queries
authoritive whois servers if one is listed. All network functions are
handled through Net_Socket.
The class can query:
* COM, ORG & NET domain names
* Country code domain names
* GOV & MIL domain names
* ARIN IP address allocations
* Route arbiter database
* Asia/Pacific network allocations
* IPv6 resource centre
* Internic and ARIN handles
To my surprise after connecting to the CVS via the web interface, I see that
an existing Net_Whois class exists. The existing class is very simple in
structure as the sole function is "query". My interface is completely
different as I do not allow the user to specify which whois server to query,
other than for the specialty lookups.
As my Net_Whois class is stable for production use and the interface won't
be changing, what is the best course of action for getting my implementation
into the CVS tree?
Thanks,
