Take a look at this message[1] on the pear-dev list.
Would it work for your auth container to call setAuthData()
and return true/false on fetchData() and have Auth call
setAuth itself?

basically change this line:
Auth::setAuth($user, $data);
to
Auth::setAuthData($data);
return true;
Unfortunately, none of the three containers that come with
Auth use the "data" option so there are no examples on
this.
