When you try to install a module with PEAR, it always says
Unable to open in read mode
for example:
nexus# pear install Log
downloading http://pear.php.net/get/Log ...
...done: 7,145 bytes
Unable to open in read mode '/Log'
nexus# pear install Mail_Mime
downloading http://pear.php.net/get/Mail_Mime ...
...done: 15,268 bytes
Unable to open in read mode '/Mail_Mime'
I configured PHP using:
> ./configure --enable-cli --with-pear --with-zlib --enable-bcmath
--enable-calendar --enable-ftp --with-gd --with-ttf --with-gettext
--with-gmp --with-imap --with-ldap --with-mcal=/usr/local/mcal
--with-mm --enable-shmop --enable-sockets --with-regex=system
--enable-sysvshm --enable-sysvsem --with-xml --enable-xml --with-mhash
and into apache as well, using --with-apache, but that should have
nothing to do with PEAR acting funny
I am using the latest (at this time) FreeBSD source for the 4.x (4.6 at
this time) tree from CVS, (RELENG_4)
the PHP ./configure script also failed to detect the presence of
getwd() and the definitions of uint, ushort, etc. on the FreeBSD
system, as it seems to be unnaturally geared towards Linux, and I had
to #define HAVE_GETWD, HAVE_UINT, HAVE_USHORT manually at compile time,
however aside from that, the compile was uneventful. This was specific
to the mysql portion of PHP, and didn't occur anywhere else.
