Help with releasing pecl package

Hi, I need some (a lot !) of help with how to actually put the ecasound module into pecl. I have searched the archives both of this list and php-dev but can't find what I'm looking for. Firstly how do I check the module into CVS, I have been given a cvs account but I can't even find any info on how to log on. Is it a cvs import command then to add the module? ( I have only used cvs that someone else has set up before) Next, I am ready to release the extension as experimental. Do I have to create a package xml file for a pecl package and then run pear and register it on the website as I would a Pear package or is it different for pecl. How do I then add documentation into the manual? Is there anything else I need to know. I appreciate this is a lot of questions and will take a fair bit of time to answer them, but if some kind soul will take the time, then I will write this up as faq's to save other newbies from having to ask this stuff here?
