Where is the reason (apart history) to force such naming ? So far I can understand the "package.xml" file should describe the components. Could not the names be there ? Anyway, I agree that too long names are boring. Again, no aim to revolution, it's more to understand how it works.
A flat structure without directories obviously makes no sense. Also the long filenames would then make your tabs inside your editor quite useless :-) Anyways so the aim of this regulation is to define a standard that results in short files names and manageable numbers of files inside any directory and more importantly in being able to easily determine the location of any given class (which is particularily more important since the creation of the __autoload() function in php5). regards, Lukas
