Greetings, The preliminary results are in... I ran the go-pear.bat file and it walked me through the process as I would have anticipated, *until* I came to the following: ****************************************************************************** WARNING! The include_path defined in the currently used php.ini does not contain the PEAR PHP directory you just specified: <E:\php\PEAR> If the specified directory is also not in the include_path used by your scripts, you will have problems getting any PEAR packages working. Current include path : .;c:\php4\pear Configured directory : E:\php\PEAR Currently used php.ini (guess) : Press Enter to continue: This is a bit of a concern to me. My PHP.ini file is located in the %WINROOT% folder - I chose this place, as I didn't install it (PHP) in c:\php. There is no other php.ini on the entire system, a grep of the registry indicates no strings that match "c:\php4\pear" and the include_path in my %WINROOT%\php.ini file is as follows: ; Windows: "\path1;\path2" include_path = ".;e:\php\PEAR;" So my question here; is where does it (the installer) aquire this info?! The following also concerns me: ** WARNING! Backed up old pear to e:\\php\pear.bat_old The 'pear' command is now at your service at E:\php\pear.bat ** The 'pear' command is not currently in your PATH, so you need to ** use 'E:\php\pear.bat' until you have added ** 'E:\php' to your PATH environment variable. There is no " 'pear' command " available on my system after the install finished. Yes, there is a "pear.bat_old", but no "pear.bat", nor pear.anything; save the PEAR folder. Also, E:\PHP is in fact in the path environmnet variable, which was also confirmed running phpinfo() on one of the (my/ our) web sites as well as typing "path" in a console. Why didn't the install pick this up? Should I be concerned? Here is the rest of the console output: Run it without parameters to see the available actions, try 'pear list' to see what packages are installed, or 'pear help' for help. Well, as noted earlier, there is no pear command available. The "PEAR_ENV.reg" file has been loaded into the registry. But the command "pear" returns nothing. Should "pear.bat_old" be renamed to "pear.bat"? ---------------------------------------------------- On Fri, 30 Jan 2004 15:19:32 -0800 "null" <null@1command.com> wrote: >> PHP 4.3.4 (cgi-fcgi) (built: Nov 2 2003 23:47:22) >> Copyright (c) 1997-2003 The PHP Group >> Zend Engine v1.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2003 Zend Technologies >> >> with the command you suggested below. Or the PEAR-GTK front-end I see listed in the "packages" section of the pear site. > >> Also pierre, I just went to your web site and just wanted to >> say what a great job I think you're doing there. I believe I understand you correctly. :) I am very greatful for all your help and just wanted to accommodate you as much as I was able. :) Thanks again, Chris
