Indeed, it would be awesome :)
But the amount of work required to convert an XForm document to an HTML form
is not worth the price. During the conversion, you will loose most of what
makes Xforms interesting: events, repeat elements, xml schema validation.
More interesting would be to create our own XML schema, based on Xforms why
not, that would get rid of everything that makes Xforms too complex and not
really usable in my eyes. There are already been some reflexion work done on
this topic but no code so far, only ideas and XML examples. We gathered them
in a wiki which I can give you the url if you are interested to work on it.
So far, the main directions have been to make two documents, an XML model
document, used for the datasource definition, and an XML view document, used
for form building/rendering. Those document would be parsed by
XML_Transformer into QuickForm pages and elements.
At the moment, Alexey and I are working on a repeat element, that would
allow to repeat a group of elements in a form. It is still vaporware, just
like the builder, because it is quite complex and we don't have much time.
Feel free to share your ideas if you already thought about the topic.
