Your best course of action is to grab the package from CVS and run the "pear package" command and then upgrading your pear install with that generated package. BTW: As per the new PEAR directory standard the examples are now in the docs/examples dir.

Documentation is still a huge problem (so is writing tests). None of the developers have time to address this really. All of the source code should have uptodate phpdoc comments, so it should be possible to get full API docs using phpDocumentor.
