I'm trying to use PEAR-DB for a project that uses MySQL as its database. I've having trouble with sequences. I don't mind so much that they create an additional table, but they don't seem to check what data is in the table (i.e., getting the max id in the table) before being created. No, sequences live independant of a specific table. This makes them more flexible, but also require that the developer makes sure that they are initialized properly. MDB has the ability to store this semantics into its xml schema format. However moving to this format will require alot of rethinking usually, but it may be worth it in the long run.
