Hi Karl,
I have very successfully run PEAR with Apache on windows 98. Even better is to use the command-line installer from a DOS prompt. To do this, install pear using the go-pear.bat file. If you have PHP installed in
C:\php
then add C:\php to your path, and run go-pear. It will step you through installation, and then you can install to your heart's content. Once the files are installed, you need only adjust the include_path in your php.ini.
Don't be alarmed, outsiders are welcome, especially those who come bearing bugfixes or enhancements or new documentation :)
Regards,
Greg

I am interested in exploring several template engines, but am unable to install anything. I am running Win98 and the Xitami browser (& PHP 4.3.3) I have read the install instructions and they seem to assume a lot of 'facts not in evidence' -- perhaps standard linux/apache layouts. One of the few messages mentioning Xitami installation problems that I found was incomprehesible except for the suggestion "use Apache" Can Pear modules be used on Win98? Are outsiders unwelcome here? Karl Bochert
