Hi,
I'm working on a web-forum/email interface script at the moment.
I have an area for users to enter their desired mail transport settings - i.e. mail(), Sendmail or SMTP outgoing, and mbox or POP incoming.
I would like to add a button to TEST each of these configurations as per the details entered in a form.
Can I start a Mail::Factory instance just to test a connection? - i.e. get error message if the settings are bad and "connection OK" message if settings are good?
The only way I can think to test the outgoing transport is to send a test mail. Is this really necessary?
The incoming transports should be OK to test.
