Well, I've figured out what was 'wrong.'
I was trying to debug a class I was developing, using the command line
version of php. What I had forgot about was the fact that I had setup a
auto_prepend_file directive for the apache-module version of php that I
normally use that included a file that set some global settings,
particularly the include path. So, while my scripts were using the
correct version of PEAR and it's packages when I run the scripts through
my website, when I was using the command-line version for debugging, I
was using the old versions of PEAR and it's packages.
(That is, on the shared web-host I use, they have a rather archaic
version of PEAR installed for the entire system, in a location on the
default include_path. I setup a local PEAR install in my home directory,
and used a file which I auto_prepend, to override the default include
path so that it looks for included files in my local install. Which
works fine for the apache module version of PHP, because I have an
.htaccess file for my site that overrides auto_prepend_file.)
Well, anyhow, sorry to bother you guys.
