hi again,
I did try your suggestions and the first one works fine, the second one almost works. I used the web
installer and installed pear under my document root, but if I try to install a new package using it,
it tries to access a directory on my host's server, /usr/local/lib/php or something like that.
Of course, it is not allowed to do that, so it gives me an error. It says it is trying to create
some file; not sure for what, but the file begins with tmp, so probably some temperary file. Is
there any way to make it write to a different path? I have looked but I don't know where it is
getting that path. besides that all is fine...but this kind of defeats its purpose if I can't
install anything :)
Thanks
Brandon
