Hello all,
I am new to pear and I need to install PEAR on a shared host using only ftp and go-pear. Hope someone can help me out with a few very basic questions.
I have no shell access on this server. I do have access to the parent directory of the document root. I uploaded the go-pear.php script and created a writable directory outside the document root. Now I'm not sure if I should enter something in HTTP proxy field of the go-pear page and if so what?
The go-pear page starts with the path to the director in which the script lives. This should be changed to the directory that I created outside the document root, right? And I can leave the rest of the fields as they are, right?
How about the path to the php binary? Do I need it if I have no CLI?
I tried to find the binary path by uploading a script with echo 'which php' this just returned 'which php'. I also tried echo PHP_BIN, this just returned 'PHP_BIN'. Do I really need the path to the binary and if so how do I find it? The include path contains /usr/local/php4/include/php so If I would have to guess the binary could be /usr/local/php4/bin/php ... But I guess guessing isn't good enough..
Any help appreciated,
