I was trying to gracefully end the conversation with a sincere thank
you, which I truly meant. Is this a real suggestion Lukas? I am not
stupid-- I know the code is free for me to fork whenever I choose.
*yes* I have moved Quickform 2.10 off to a different directory
location, changed all my require lines and I am maintaining it myself.
I did this over a year ago. Great! Now I am maintaining a form
library in addition to the million other thins I am doing.
Lukas does this mean I shouldn't trust any of your packages to
maintain BC? Your comments make me think that you don't care about
your users. That a library is open source does not mean that the
maintainers should not feel a sense of obligation to their users.
Suggestions like "if you don't like it fork and maintain it yourself"
and not practical and a little flippant. Often people are using an
open source library because they realize the maintainer is more
qualified or has more free time to build and maintain such a library.
Giving such people the finger is bad PR for PEAR.
btw I want to say that in general the support available to PEAR users
here on the mailing list is absolutely wonderful and thorough. I do
not not feel like BC is a overwhelming problem for PEAR.
