I'm confused... I thought the idea behind PEAR DB was to solve the
problem of having 100 different database APIs for PHP. PEAR DB should
provide us with a common way of accessing different databases. But here
comes DB_ado - doesn't that give us yet another way of accessing
databases?
I realize that DB_ado extens DB_common. What I can't figure out from
looking at the source code is whether DB_ado requires a different
syntax than PEAR DB - and if is does, why has the PEAR community
accepted it, if the point of PEAR DB was to give the PHP coders the
common database API we've all been waiting for? This is not a retorical
question. Like I said, I can't really figure out from looking at the
source code whether DB_ado requires a new syntax or not.
