Seems that you've got a hard time with PEAR. You might want
to read the installation chapter of the manual thouroughly:
http://pear.php.net/manual/en/installation.php
Run following commands from a shell to install PEAR from scratch:
(# stands for a root shell)
# php -r 'include("http://go-pear.org/");'
Now follow the instructions on the screen.
Add the directory you defined as "PEAR directory"
(php_dir) to the "include_path" of your php.ini
If you don't want to bother with package's
states run the following command:
# pear config-set preferred_state devel
Now install wanted packages:
# pear install Auth
See "help install" for some convenience options:
#pear help install
